We are proud to launch The Best of All Possible Worlds - an extraordinary collector’s edition book of Riiko Sakkinen’s drawings. The very special feature of this publication is an original and unique drawing included in each volume. The A4 size drawing comes in a pocket within the book and can be taken out and framed.
The Best of All Possible Worlds is not a book about art but a piece of art in its own right. It is made with the finest printing and binding materials and sports several handmade details. The books are signed on the cover by the artist. The numbered and strictly limited edition is 250 (+50 artist’s proofs).
The opus showcases a selection of 250 Sakkinen A4 size drawings from 2001 to 2017. The standard office size drawings have always been the core of his oeuvre - they are covering political, economical and cultural issues encyclopedically forming a turborealist constellation of references to our globalized capitalist world. Sakkinen’s A4 drawings are included in several museum collections including the MoMA.
Each of the 250 attached original drawings depict Porky Pig, a cartoon character from Looney Tunes. Pigs have an important place in popular culture, religion and metaphors and they relate with both positive and negative connotations. The image is similar in every drawing while the texts and visual extras vary to make each drawing a unique artwork with different finish and message.
