i Domestic workers in Lebanon find themselves in conditions of forced labor, withholding of passports, non-payment of wages, restrictions on movement, threats, and physical or sexual assault. Maid suicides by hanging themselves or falling from balconies have brought international attention to their situation. There are estimated 200 thousand migrant domestic workers, mainly from the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, in Lebanon.
