Red is frequently used as a symbol of guilt, sin and anger, often as connected with blood or sex. It is also associated with lust, passion, love, and beauty as well. Even before Europe's Revolutions of 1848, red was used as a color of European revolutionaries, often in the form of the red flag.

Red China was one of the names used of People's republic of China when it was established in 1949

Chinese red is the alternative name of vermilion which comes from cinnabar mined in China.
